Windows 9x Setup
Here's what you need to establish an Internet connection:
- TCP/IP driver: allows your computer to talk to the Internet in it's language
- Dial-Up adapter: dials the Internet using your modem
If you use your computer on an office network, consult with your network administrator before following these instructions.
Check for Dialup Adapter
- Important: Make sure you have the Windows95/98/ME Installation CD handy before attempting to remove/re-install anything Network related.
- Open up the Control Panel in the My Computer window.
- Run Add/Remove Programs.
- Click on the Windows Setup tab.
- Click on Communications then Details.
- Put a check mark by Dial-Up Networking.
- Click on OK to leave Communications.
- Click on OK to start the installation process.
- A dialog box will appear which says You must restart your computer before the new settings will take effect. Do you want to restart your computer now? Click Yes.

if it isn't already open.

remove any other protocols and adapters. The only things you
want are Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial-Up Adapter
and TCP/IP.

computer. Click on OK.

the name of your new connection.
- Install a modem only if needed
in the Select a Modem option.

modem should dial.

you're ready to explore the Internet. Note: If you are using
the Standard Win95 modem driver, you will not see the connect
speed, but will otherwise connect normally.
